About the Truro Design

Truro is a Shaker-style wardrobe: each door is a framed panel, with a slim raised border around a flat centre, finished with a solid oak-effect cornice across the top. It is the most traditional design we sell, and it is deliberately so – a wardrobe for a cottage bedroom, a period house, or any room where a flat modern front would look out of place.

The cornice is what makes it. Rather than matching the carcase, it is finished in wood, so the painted doors sit beneath a warm timber-look top in the way a piece of freestanding cabinetry would. Each colour comes with its own cornice finish, chosen to suit it:

White with Bianco Oak is the lightest and freshest – a pale, washed oak above a clean white front. It suits a bright room and a coastal or Scandinavian-leaning scheme.

Pebble Grey with Dark Rustic Oak is the warmest and most traditional. The darker, more characterful oak gives the grey real depth, and it is the combination that looks most like handmade cabinetry.

Sage Green with Bianco Oak is the one people remember. A soft, muted heritage green is exactly the colour Shaker furniture was made for, and with a pale oak cornice it looks at home in a period cottage in a way few manufactured wardrobes manage.

The handles are slate bars, dark enough to give the framed doors a defined line without competing with the cornice.

Mirror Options

Three fronts are available. No mirror keeps the Shaker panels intact across all three doors, which is the purest version of the design. Centre door mirror adds a single mirror where you would naturally stand to use it, while the outer doors keep their panels. All doors mirrored gives the most light and a full dressing mirror across the front – the practical choice for a smaller room that has no space for a separate mirror.

Interior and Construction

Inside, the wardrobe divides into two compartments of 100cm and 50cm, each with two adjustable shelves and a metal clothes rail. The 50cm section works well as a separate column for shirts or one person's everyday clothes, kept apart from the main compartment.

It is built more heavily than most wardrobes at this level: a 15mm carcase and 22mm shelves, with metal shelf supports rather than plastic pegs, so shelves carry stacked knitwear and boxes without sagging over the years. All doors are fitted with soft-close cushioned hinges, and the wardrobe is compatible with Wiemann's LED lighting kits if you want to add interior lighting.

Preparing Your Room for Assembly

Large wardrobes normally need to be assembled flat before being carefully raised into their final position. Preparing the room before the delivery team arrives is therefore essential.

• Ensure the room has sufficient clear floor space for the wardrobe to be assembled lying flat.
• Allow approximately 20cm of clearance around the wardrobe footprint where possible.
• Allow approximately 15–20cm of ceiling clearance above the finished height of the wardrobe.
• Ensure access routes, doorways, hallways and stairs are clear and suitable for the wardrobe components to be safely carried into the room.
• Remove furniture and other items that may obstruct the assembly area.
• Consider radiators, light fittings, low ceilings, sloping ceilings and other permanent obstructions that could prevent safe assembly.
• Our wardrobes are freestanding and the assembly team may require access around the furniture during installation.

Important: If our assembly team arrives and the room or access route is not suitable for safe delivery and assembly, they may be unable to complete the service. The assembly charge may still apply where the service cannot be completed because sufficient access or assembly space has not been provided.

What Happens If Damage Occurs During Assembly?

When you choose our Professional Delivery & Assembly service, the installation is carried out by our specialist assembly team.

If accidental damage occurs to your wardrobe during assembly, the assemblers will report the damage to us so that we can arrange the appropriate replacement part.

We normally aim to order the replacement part within approximately 48 hours of receiving the relevant information from the assembly team.

Please be aware that many of our wardrobe parts are manufactured and supplied from Germany. Replacement components may therefore take a similar lead time to the original order before they arrive with us and can be arranged for fitting.

This is one of the key benefits of selecting professional assembly: if accidental damage occurs during installation by our team, we take responsibility for resolving the issue.

If your wardrobe is supplied as Delivery Only, it will normally arrive flat-packed with the components and assembly instructions required to build the furniture.

Large wardrobes normally need to be assembled flat before being carefully raised into their final position. We strongly recommend checking all components before beginning assembly and making sure there is sufficient room to work safely around the wardrobe.

• Check all packs before beginning assembly.
• Confirm that all required components are present.
• Check that no components appear damaged before assembly begins.
• Use at least two people for safe assembly and lifting.
