Metallic Grey and Mirror
Despite the name, this is not a mid grey. Metallic Grey is a deep graphite — considerably closer to black than to silver, and in most rooms it reads as a near-black. If you have been searching for a dark or black mirrored sliding wardrobe, this is the colourway.
The mirror is a full-height panel set into one of the two sliding doors, rather than a whole door given over to mirror, with the graphite finish running alongside it. On a dark colour that framing produces the strongest contrast in the range: a bright reflective strip against a near-black front, where the dark surround recedes and lets the mirror lead.
It is also the colourway where the mirror does the most practical work. Graphite absorbs a good deal of light across a wide sliding front, and the mirror gives some of it back — so if you liked the idea of a dark wardrobe but worried it would close the room in, this is the version that answers that. It still needs a room with reasonable light and pale walls to look its best, but the mirror buys you more room than a plain dark front would.
Because the doors slide, the mirror moves across the front as you use the wardrobe. And with nothing swinging out into the room, there is no risk of a mirrored door catching on furniture — a real consideration in a bedroom, and one of the reasons a mirrored sliding wardrobe is safer than a hinged one.
The slim aluminium handles catch the light against the dark front, and together with the mirror they are the only things on the wardrobe that are not graphite — which is exactly enough.
One honest note: dark finishes show fingerprints and dust more readily than pale ones. A dry cloth is all it needs, but the graphite sections will want attention more often than white or champagne would.
Three Widths
All three sizes have two sliding doors; what changes is the width and how the interior is divided behind them.
175cm gives two compartments of 87.5cm — the right proportion for a standard double bedroom, and the most compact of the three. At this width the dark finish reads as an accent rather than a statement, so it works in rooms where the wider versions would be too much.
218cm opens the two compartments out to 109cm each. That is unusually generous: wide enough for a full season's coats or a long run of dresses in one section, without the rail being divided.
261cm divides into three compartments of 87.5cm behind the two doors. For two people sharing this is the one to have — a compartment each with a third for bedding, luggage or out-of-season clothing. In Metallic Grey it is also the most dramatic, and the width where the mirror panel matters most.
Every compartment, at every width, has a height-adjustable shelf and a hanging rail, so the balance between hanging and folded storage is yours to set rather than the factory's.
At 210cm high and 59cm deep, Aurelia fits a standard modern bedroom without needing a specialist ceiling height, and the depth means garments hang square on the rail rather than pressing against the sliding doors.
German Build at a Sensible Price
Aurelia sits in the Rauch Blue range – Rauch's value line, where the brief is reliable quality and good value rather than premium specification. What it is not is a budget wardrobe dressed up: it is 100% Made in Germany and carries both the Blue Angel and the Golden M.
Blue Angel is an independently verified low-emission certification, which is worth having on a large piece of furniture in a room you sleep in. The Golden M is Germany's independent furniture quality mark. Both are external certifications rather than the manufacturer's own claims, and most wardrobes at this price carry neither.
Other Options
If you would prefer no mirror at all, Aurelia is also produced as a plain metallic grey sliding wardrobe.
The mirrored version is also made in White, the brightest of the range, and Champagne, a soft faintly golden neutral. There is also an Artisan Oak version with mirror, which includes a metallic grey carcase option if you want the dark tone with a warm wood-effect door.
Matching bedside tables and chests of drawers are available from the same collection.
Delivery and Assembly
Free delivery is included, and our professional assembly service is available at additional cost — our fitters deliver to your room of choice, build the wardrobe, remove the packaging and show you how everything works before they leave. On a wardrobe with a mirrored door it is worth considering.
Dispatch is 4 to 6 weeks, which is quicker than most German wardrobes we sell. This is a dispatch timeframe rather than a delivery date: the wardrobe is built to your specification in Germany and then shipped to the UK.

FAQs
Is this wardrobe grey or black?
Metallic Grey is a deep graphite rather than a mid grey – considerably closer to black, and in most rooms it reads as a near-black. If you are looking for a dark or black mirrored sliding wardrobe, this is the colourway.
How is the mirror arranged?
As a full-height panel set into one of the two sliding doors, with the graphite finish running alongside it. On a dark colour that produces the strongest contrast in the range – the dark surround recedes and lets the mirror lead.
Will the mirror stop a dark wardrobe closing the room in?
It helps considerably. Graphite absorbs a good deal of light across a wide front and the mirror gives some of it back. It still works best against pale walls in a room with reasonable light, but the mirror buys you more room than a plain dark front would.
Does it show fingerprints and dust?
The graphite sections do, more readily than a pale finish. A dry cloth is all it needs, but it will want attention more often than white or champagne would.
Is it big enough to use as a dressing mirror?
Yes. The panel runs the full height of the door, so you can see a whole outfit – but without the wardrobe becoming a mirrored wall facing the bed.
How many doors does it have?
Two sliding doors at every width. The wider sizes give more internal compartments behind those two doors rather than additional doors.
Which width should I choose?
175cm gives two compartments of 87.5cm and keeps the dark finish as an accent. 218cm widens them to 109cm each. 261cm divides into three compartments of 87.5cm – the best arrangement for two people sharing, and the width where the mirror panel matters most.
What is inside the wardrobe?
Every compartment has one height-adjustable shelf and one hanging rail. Because the shelf adjusts, you can raise it for full-length coats and dresses or lower it to add folded storage.
Why choose sliding doors on a mirrored wardrobe?
Nothing swings out into the room, so no floor space is lost and there is no risk of a mirrored door catching on furniture as it opens – a real consideration in a bedroom.
Is there a version without a mirror?
Yes. The same wardrobe is produced as a plain metallic grey sliding wardrobe.
What is the Rauch Blue range?
Rauch's value line – functional, well-designed furniture made in Germany, combining reliable quality with good value. It carries the same Blue Angel and Golden M certifications as the rest of the brand.
How deep is it?
59cm, which allows garments to hang square on the rail without pressing against the sliding doors.
Is it available in other colours?
Yes. The mirrored version is also made in White and Champagne, and there is an Artisan Oak version that includes a metallic grey carcase option.
What delivery options are available?
Free delivery is included. Our professional assembly service is available at additional cost, where our fitters build the wardrobe in your chosen room and remove the packaging.
How long will it take to arrive?
Dispatch is 4 to 6 weeks — quicker than most German wardrobes. This is a dispatch timeframe rather than a delivery date, as the wardrobe is built to your specification in Germany and then shipped to the UK.
Can I cancel or change my order?
No. This wardrobe is made to order by Rauch to your selected specification, so once the order has been processed it cannot be cancelled or amended. Please check your measurements and selected width carefully before ordering.
How do I look after the surfaces?
The surfaces are easy to maintain and should be cleaned with a dry cloth only.
