Four Drawers in Two Separate Banks
This is the most drawer storage Cairns offers, and the arrangement is what makes it work rather than simply the number. Four drawers sit in two banks of two, one in each of the two 100cm centre compartments — not a single stack of four in the middle.
Two separate banks is a genuinely better arrangement for two people sharing. Each person gets their own drawers directly beneath their own hanging space, rather than sharing one column and negotiating over which drawer is whose. It is the same logic that makes a pair of bedside tables better than one large one.
The interior divides into four compartments — 50cm, 100cm, 100cm and 50cm — each with two adjustable wooden shelves and a metal hanging rail. The two narrow columns at each end are full height with no drawers beneath them, so long coats, dresses and suit carriers have somewhere to hang without compromise. The wide centre sections handle everyday clothes above their drawers.
For most households this genuinely replaces a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Four drawers of this width is a real chest's worth of folded storage, built into a footprint you were giving up to the wardrobe anyway.
If four drawers is more than you need, the same wardrobe is also produced with two drawers and three equal 100cm compartments.
The Mirror Option
Mirror panels are available on the centre doors, inset into the upper section above the drawers rather than running the full height. Positioned at the middle of the wardrobe, they sit exactly where you would naturally stand to use them.
That restraint matters at this width. Three metres of continuous mirror would be overwhelming in a bedroom; inset panels give the light and the function while the wardrobe still reads as furniture. On the darker finishes the panels also catch light against the door and give a very large front real definition.
Five Colours, Including Sage Green
Cairns comes in five finishes, and at three metres the choice matters more than at any smaller width — a wardrobe this wide sets the tone of the room whether you intend it to or not.
White is the finish that lets you have this much storage without the room paying for it. Three metres of white reads as wall rather than furniture, and the eye passes over it.
Sage Green is a soft, muted green with grey in it — closer to a heritage paint colour than anything you would normally find on a German wardrobe. At this width it becomes the defining element of the bedroom, and because it remains fundamentally a soft neutral rather than a strong colour, that works where a bolder shade would overwhelm.
Pebble Grey is a warm mid grey — softer than a cool grey, and the safest of the five at this size. Champagne is a pale, faintly golden neutral that fills the wall while keeping the space warm. Graphite is a deep near-black and the boldest by some distance; across three metres it defines the room entirely, so it needs white or off-white walls, pale flooring and light to spare.
The carcase matches the doors on all five, so the wardrobe reads as one finish rather than coloured fronts on a white box.
Cornice or Passepartout – What's the Difference?
Cairns comes with a cornice as standard, and you can swap it for a Passepartout frame instead. On a wardrobe this size the choice is more consequential than on any smaller model.
A cornice is a decorative moulded top section fitted above the wardrobe. It finishes the unit off and gives a more traditional, furnished appearance. The wardrobe still stands freestanding with a gap above and down each side.
A Passepartout frame surrounds the wardrobe across the top and down both sides, closing the gap between the furniture and the room. At three metres this is the difference between a fitted wall of storage and a very large piece of furniture standing against a wall — and on a unit that occupies most of a bedroom wall, that distinction is the whole impression the room gives.
The practical difference is the width. With the cornice the wardrobe is 300cm wide and 220cm high. With the Passepartout frame it is 306cm wide and 220cm high — the frame adds 3cm to each side. At this size the wall is rarely generous, so measure the full run carefully before choosing, including skirting boards, radiators and any point where the wall is not perfectly square.
Doors, Drawers and Handles
All six doors have soft-close cushioned hinges and open to 95°, wider than the usual 90° — enough that the door clears the opening completely and you can pull a drawer straight out without the door edge in the way. With four drawers in daily use behind doors, that clearance matters more here than on the plain models.
Handles are horizontal metal bars in a choice of Silver or Slate, used on both the doors and the drawer fronts so the whole front reads consistently. Silver is the quieter option on the paler finishes; Slate is darker and more contemporary, and works particularly well on Sage Green and Graphite. Across six doors and four drawers those horizontal lines give three metres of front a strong, regular rhythm.
