Drawers Without Losing Hanging Space
At 250cm the drawer version keeps exactly the same internal division as the standard model — 100cm, 50cm and 100cm — and puts the two drawers into the narrow centre section. That is the important difference from the smaller drawer models, where adding drawers changes how the interior is split.
Here nothing is given up. Both 100cm compartments remain full-height hanging sections, untouched, with two adjustable wooden shelves and a metal hanging rail each. The drawers sit in the 50cm column, which was never going to be the main hanging space anyway — so the wardrobe gains folded storage without losing anything that matters.
For two people sharing, that means a full 100cm compartment each with shared drawers in the middle, which is about as clean an arrangement as a wardrobe of this width can offer. And because the drawers take the small folded items that would otherwise be piled on a shelf, a separate chest of drawers often becomes unnecessary.
Everything adjusts, so the balance between hanging and folded storage is yours to set section by section.
The Mirror Option
A mirror panel is available on the centre door, inset into the upper section above the drawers. The placement is practical rather than decorative: it sits at the right level for checking an outfit, positioned centrally in the wardrobe where you would naturally stand to use it.
The band of colour around the panel is what keeps the front reading as furniture. On a two-and-a-half-metre wardrobe a full-height mirrored door would draw the eye to nothing else; a single inset panel gives you a focal point and a usable mirror while the rest of the front stays calm.
Five Colours, Including Sage Green
Cairns comes in five finishes, and one of them is unusual enough to be the reason people choose this range.
Sage Green is a soft, muted green with grey in it — closer to a heritage paint colour than anything you would normally find on a German wardrobe, where the palette is almost always white, grey or oak. Across 250cm it becomes the defining colour of the room, and the fact that it is still fundamentally a soft neutral is what allows that to work.
White is the brightest and does most to keep a wardrobe this wide from dominating. Pebble Grey is a warm mid grey — softer than a cool grey and easier to live with over time. Champagne is a pale, faintly golden neutral, warmer than grey and softer than white. Graphite is a deep near-black, the boldest of the five; at this width it defines the bedroom rather than sitting in it, so it needs a room with light to spare.
The carcase matches the doors on all five, so the wardrobe reads as one finish rather than coloured fronts on a white box.
Cornice or Passepartout – What's the Difference?
Cairns comes with a cornice as standard, and you can swap it for a Passepartout frame instead.
A cornice is a decorative moulded top section fitted above the wardrobe. It finishes the unit off and gives a more traditional, furnished appearance — the same idea as the cornice on a fitted kitchen. The wardrobe still stands freestanding with a gap above and down each side.
A Passepartout frame surrounds the wardrobe across the top and down both sides, closing the gap between the furniture and the room. At 250cm that difference is at its most valuable — a wardrobe this wide reads either as a fitted wall of storage or as a very large freestanding unit, and the frame is what decides which.
The practical difference is the width. With the cornice the wardrobe is 250cm wide and 220cm high. With the Passepartout frame it is 256cm wide and 220cm high — the frame adds 3cm to each side. On a wardrobe already occupying most of a wall, check that 6cm carefully before choosing.
Doors, Drawers and Handles
All five doors have soft-close cushioned hinges and open to 95°, wider than the usual 90° — enough that the door clears the opening completely and you can pull a drawer or a basket straight out without the door edge in the way.
Handles are horizontal metal bars in a choice of Silver or Slate, used on both the doors and the drawer fronts so the whole front reads consistently. Silver is the quieter option on the paler finishes; Slate is darker and more contemporary, and works particularly well on Sage Green and Graphite. Across five doors and two drawers those horizontal lines give a wide front a regular rhythm rather than leaving it flat.
