A Wide Centre Between Two Narrow Columns
At 200cm the drawer version divides into three compartments — 50cm, 100cm and 50cm — with the two drawers built into the wide centre section beneath a pair of mirrored doors.
That arrangement is more deliberate than it looks. The 100cm centre is the working part of the wardrobe: a full-width hanging section with the drawers directly below it, so everyday clothes and the small folded items that go with them are in one place rather than at opposite ends. The two 50cm columns either side are for the things you reach for less often — coats, formal wear, out-of-season — kept separate rather than mixed in.
It also gives the wardrobe a symmetrical front: two narrow doors framing two mirrored ones, with the drawers centred beneath. On a two-metre front that balance reads as considered rather than simply divided.
Every compartment has two adjustable wooden shelves and a metal hanging rail. Because everything adjusts, the balance between hanging and folded storage is yours to set section by section.
The drawers take the small folded items that would otherwise be piled on a shelf — underwear, socks, accessories — and for many bedrooms that removes the need for a separate chest of drawers entirely. On a 200cm footprint, that is a meaningful amount of floor space returned to the room.
The Mirror Option
Mirror panels are available on both centre doors, inset into the upper section above the drawers rather than running the full height. Side by side they form a tall pair at the middle of the wardrobe — enough mirror to be genuinely useful, positioned where you would naturally stand to use it.
The band of colour around each panel is what keeps the front reading as furniture. A pair of full-height mirrored doors on a two-metre wardrobe would dominate the room; inset panels give the light and the function while the wardrobe stays a wardrobe.
Five Colours, Including Sage Green
Cairns comes in five finishes, and one of them is unusual enough to be the reason people choose this range.
Sage Green is a soft, muted green with grey in it — closer to a heritage paint colour than anything you would normally find on a German wardrobe, where the palette is almost always white, grey or oak. It works where a neutral would feel flat: alongside natural linen, brass fittings, patterned wallpaper or a period room where white looks too modern.
White is the brightest and most adaptable. Pebble Grey is a warm mid grey — softer than a cool grey and easier to live with over time. Champagne is a pale, faintly golden neutral, warmer than grey and softer than white. Graphite is a deep near-black, the boldest of the five, best against pale walls and flooring.
The carcase matches the doors on all five, so the wardrobe reads as one finish rather than coloured fronts on a white box.
Cornice or Passepartout – What's the Difference?
Cairns comes with a cornice as standard, and you can swap it for a Passepartout frame instead.
A cornice is a decorative moulded top section fitted above the wardrobe. It finishes the unit off and gives a more traditional, furnished appearance — the same idea as the cornice on a fitted kitchen. The wardrobe still stands freestanding with a gap above and down each side.
A Passepartout frame surrounds the wardrobe across the top and down both sides, closing the gap between the furniture and the room. The result is a built-in appearance: no daylight above, no shadow line at the edges, and no dust shelf forming on top.
The practical difference is the width. With the cornice the wardrobe is 200cm wide and 220cm high. With the Passepartout frame it is 206cm wide and 220cm high — the frame adds 3cm to each side. If you are fitting into an alcove or a measured space, that 6cm matters and needs checking before you choose.
Doors, Drawers and Handles
All four doors have soft-close cushioned hinges and open to 95°, wider than the usual 90° — enough that the door clears the opening completely and you can pull a drawer or a basket straight out without the door edge in the way. On the centre section that matters directly: both doors clear the opening before you pull a drawer.
Handles are horizontal metal bars in a choice of Silver or Slate, used on both the doors and the drawer fronts so the whole front reads consistently. Silver is the quieter option on the paler finishes; Slate is darker and more contemporary, and works particularly well on Sage Green and Graphite.
