About the Full Oak Veneer Door
Malva is the only Rauch collection that uses real oak veneer rather than a wood-effect print, and this is the version that makes the most of it. Rather than a band across the doors, one entire sliding door is faced in oak – roughly half the front of the wardrobe, in actual timber. On a 271cm model that is around 135cm of continuous real wood grain.
The difference from a printed foil is obvious at this scale. A decor foil repeats: look along a large panel and the same knots and figuring recur at regular intervals, because the pattern is photographic. Real veneer does not repeat – the grain runs the length of the door as it grew, with the tonal variation and texture of timber. Across half a wardrobe front, that is not a subtle distinction.
Paired with metallic grey it becomes a genuinely bold piece. Metallic Grey is a deep graphite, considerably closer to black than to silver, so the wardrobe splits into two halves that could hardly be more different: one warm, textured and organic, the other dark, smooth and flat. It is the most striking configuration in the Malva range, and the one that reads unmistakably as a design decision rather than a finish choice.
The handles are finished in the carcase colour, so they sit quietly and leave the material contrast to do the work. On the matching bedroom furniture the handles are oak, picking up the veneer instead.
One detail to know before ordering: the base plinth is always supplied in Silk Grey. Beneath the doors that lighter band is visible at floor level – a deliberate design decision by Rauch rather than an omission.
Sizes and Interior
Three widths are offered, all with two sliding doors. 181cm divides into two compartments of 90cm – the standard proportion and the right choice for a normal double bedroom. 226cm keeps two compartments but opens them to 112.5cm each, which is unusually generous: wide enough that a full season's coats sits in one section without crowding. 271cm divides into three compartments of 90cm behind the two doors, which suits two people sharing better than two very wide sections would.
Every compartment has a storage shelf and a hanging rail, both adjustable in height, so the balance between hanging and folded storage is yours to set. Further interior accessories are available from the Rauch range if you want to build it out.
We would recommend adding soft close to the sliding doors. It stops a door being pushed shut hard and landing with a bang, drawing it closed quietly over the last few centimetres instead – and beyond the feel of it, taking that impact out of daily use is what keeps sliding doors running true over years rather than gradually dropping out of alignment.

Metallic Grey is a deep graphite rather than a mid grey – considerably closer to black, and in most rooms it reads as a near-black. Against a full oak door that darkness produces the strongest material contrast in the range.
Should I add soft close?
We would recommend it. Beyond the feel of a door closing quietly rather than banging, it takes the impact out of daily use, which is what keeps sliding doors running true over years rather than gradually dropping out of alignment.
What colour are the handles?
The wardrobe handles are metal in the carcase colour. The matching bedroom furniture uses oak handles instead, picking up the veneer.
What colour is the base plinth?
Silk Grey. Beneath the doors this is visible as a lighter band at floor level. It is a design feature of the range rather than a fault or a variation.
