About the Silk Grey Glass and Black Combination
Of the three two-tone Contido combinations, this is the most subtle. Where white glass against black is a hard monochrome contrast and champagne against black is a warm-cool opposition, silk grey and black are two points on the same scale – a soft light grey stepping down to a deep near-black. The wardrobe reads as a gradation rather than a collision, which gives it a quieter, more considered quality than either of the others.
That tonal relationship is what makes it work in rooms the other two would fight. A hard black-and-white front needs a scheme confident enough to carry it. This one does not – the grey softens the transition to the dark frame, so the wardrobe has definition without demanding the room be built around it. If you liked the idea of a framed two-tone wardrobe but found white-and-black too stark, this is the version to look at.
The two-tone versions are produced in glass only, and a mid tone is where glass shows its value most clearly. Grey shows the quality of its surface more than a white does, since unevenness reads as patchiness rather than as a flaw at the edges – so genuine glass gives the colour a depth and uniformity a coated panel cannot match, with light moving across the surface rather than stopping at it. Against a black frame, that movement is what stops the front looking flat.

Black ties the handles to the carcase, so the dark elements read as one frame and the grey front stays uninterrupted – the most cohesive option. Both front options are genuine glass, so the choice is simply whether you want a mirror built into the wardrobe.
Glass gives an unbroken silk grey front, with the depth and evenness that glass brings to a mid tone.
Glass with Mirror adds mirrored panels. Grey and mirror is a softer pairing than white and mirror – the grey holds its own beside the reflection rather than disappearing into it, so the front stays balanced rather than becoming one bright plane. With a black frame containing the edges, it is arguably the most sophisticated combination in the range.

Contido sits in Rauch Orange Plus, and the difference between this and a standard sliding wardrobe is almost entirely in what comes as standard rather than what you pay extra for. Contido includes the premium interior package in the price: a set of two sliding door dampers, an interior drawer, and a wardrobe interior division – three upgrades most manufacturers charge separately for, and the three most people end up wanting.
The dampers are the one you notice daily. Sliding doors without them can be pushed shut hard and land with a bang; a damped door draws itself closed over the last few centimetres and settles quietly. On a glass or mirrored front that matters twice over, since a slammed glazed door is a genuine risk as well as a noise.
The interior drawer and the division do the organisational work. A drawer inside a wardrobe keeps small items contained rather than piled on a shelf, and the vertical division splits a compartment so shorter garments can hang above shelving instead of wasting the full drop. Together they are the reason a Contido wardrobe usually removes the need for a separate chest of drawers.
A Passepartout frame is available as an optional extra, with or without integrated lighting – a surround fitted across the top and both sides of the wardrobe, closing the gap to the ceiling and walls to give a built-in appearance. The door fronts are silk grey glass; the carcase is black. The sides, top and the edges around the doors are dark, framing the grey front. Because the two tones sit on the same scale rather than in opposition, the result is a gradation rather than a hard contrast.
Is a matt décor front available in this combination?
No. The two-tone Contido wardrobes are produced in glass only – either plain glass or glass with mirror. If you want a matt finish, the single-colour silk grey version offers a décor front.
