About the Contido Design
Contido sits in Rauch Orange Plus, and the difference between this and a standard sliding wardrobe is almost entirely in what comes as standard rather than what you pay extra for. Most wardrobes at this level give you shelves, rails and a price list of everything else. Contido includes the premium interior package in the price: a set of two sliding door dampers, an interior drawer, and a wardrobe interior division – three upgrades most manufacturers charge separately for, and the three most people end up wanting.
The dampers are the one you notice daily. Sliding doors without them can be pushed shut hard and land with a bang; a damped door draws itself closed over the last few centimetres and settles quietly. On a bedroom wardrobe used early in the morning and late at night, that is a genuine quality-of-life difference rather than a specification line.
The interior drawer and the division do the organisational work. A drawer inside a wardrobe keeps small items – underwear, socks, accessories – contained rather than piled on a shelf, and the vertical division splits a compartment so shorter garments can hang above shelving instead of wasting the full drop. Together they turn an open box into a considered interior, and they are the reason a Contido wardrobe usually removes the need for a separate chest of drawers.
The front is deliberately understated. Each sliding door divides into three horizontal panels – a tall centre panel with a shorter panel of equal size above and below it – so the doors have proportion and structure without decoration. Across two doors those horizontal lines give the wardrobe a quiet rhythm, and in white the effect is clean and architectural rather than plain.
White is the most adaptable finish in the range. It sits with any flooring, any bedding and any wall colour, and it keeps a standard bedroom feeling open in a way a darker finish cannot. It is also the finish that makes the panel divisions most visible, since the shadow lines between them are the only detail on the door.
Handles are a genuine choice rather than a fixed fitting. Aluminium is the standard option and the most affordable – a soft, brushed silver that sits quietly against white. Chrome is brighter and more reflective, sharper against a pale door and better suited to a high-shine scheme. Black is the boldest, turning the handles into a graphic vertical line on an otherwise plain white front. Chrome and black are priced the same, so the decision between those two is purely aesthetic.
Three widths are offered, and the internal division scales with them: two compartments of 80cm at 160cm, 90cm at 180cm, or 100cm at 200cm. Every compartment carries two storage shelves and a hanging rail regardless of width, so the wider models give more space per section rather than more sections to divide things between.
The fittings are properly specified. Shelves are 2.2cm thick and rated to 10kg each; the clothes rails carry up to 40kg. Everything can be individually positioned and adjusted in height, so the balance between hanging and folded storage is yours to set rather than the factory's. Usable interior depth is 56cm, so garments hang square on the rail rather than pressing against the sliding doors.
A Passepartout frame is available as an optional extra, with or without integrated lighting. This is a surround fitted across the top and both sides of the wardrobe, closing the gap to the ceiling and walls to give a built-in, fitted appearance rather than a freestanding one. With the lighting option it also washes the front of the wardrobe, which on a pale finish is particularly effective.
Contido is 100% Made in Germany and carries both the Blue Angel and the Golden M – Blue Angel being an independently verified low-emission certification, which is worth having on a large piece of furniture in a room you sleep in. Rauch Orange Plus is the brand's durable, high-specification line, and the wardrobe is backed by a 10-year manufacturer guarantee.
For a longer wall, Contido is also produced as a 3 door sliding wardrobe in 240cm, 270cm and 300cm widths. The range is also made in Silk Grey, Champagne and Black, all with the same premium interior included.

FAQs
What is included in the premium interior?
Three items that most manufacturers charge extra for, included as standard: a set of two sliding door dampers, an interior drawer, and a wardrobe interior division. They come with the wardrobe at every width.
What do the sliding door dampers do?
They stop the doors slamming. A damped door draws itself closed over the last few centimetres and settles quietly instead of banging shut – the difference is most noticeable early in the morning and late at night.
Which handle should I choose?
Aluminium is the standard option and the most affordable – a soft brushed silver that sits quietly against white. Chrome is brighter and more reflective. Black is the boldest, giving the front a graphic vertical line. Chrome and black are priced the same, so that choice is purely aesthetic.
Which width should I choose?
All three give two compartments, each with two shelves and a hanging rail. 160cm gives 80cm per compartment, 180cm gives 90cm, and 200cm gives 100cm – so the wider models give more space per section rather than extra sections.
How much weight will the shelves and rails hold?
Each shelf is 2.2cm thick and rated to 10kg; each clothes rail carries up to 40kg. All shelves and rails can be individually positioned and adjusted in height.
What is a Passepartout frame?
An optional surround fitted across the top and both sides of the wardrobe. It closes the gap to the ceiling and walls, giving a built-in, fitted appearance rather than a freestanding one. It is available with or without integrated lighting, at additional cost.
How deep is it?
Usable interior depth is 56cm, which allows garments to hang square on the rail without pressing against the sliding doors.
What is Rauch Orange Plus?
Rauch's durable, high-specification line – furniture built for long service in a timeless design, with a wide range of models and features. Contido sits within it, which is why the premium interior comes as standard rather than as a paid upgrade.
What delivery options are available?
Free delivery is included. Our professional assembly service is available at additional cost, where our fitters build the wardrobe in your chosen room.
Is it available in other sizes?
Yes. Contido is also produced as a 3 door sliding wardrobe in 240cm, 270cm and 300cm widths.
Is it available in other colours?
Yes. The range is also made in Silk Grey, Champagne and Black.
Can I cancel or change my order?
No. This wardrobe is made to order by Rauch to your selected specification, including width and handle finish, so once the order has been processed it cannot be cancelled or amended. Please check your measurements and selected options carefully before ordering.
What guarantee does it come with?
Rauch provide a 10-Year Manufacturer Guarantee, subject to their warranty terms.
How do I look after the surfaces?
The surfaces are easy to maintain and should be cleaned with a dry cloth only.
