The Corner Problem, Solved
Every bedroom has a corner that does nothing. A standard wardrobe against one wall leaves the return wall unusable; two wardrobes meeting at right angles leave a dead void where they join, and one of them blocks the other. Lema is built for exactly that space, and it turns the least useful part of the room into roughly 3.6 cubic metres of storage.
What makes it work is the way the doors open. All four slide from the centre outwards, so the corner itself opens up rather than being hidden behind a door — a panoramic opening that gives you sight of the whole interior at once. On a conventional corner unit the corner is where things go to be forgotten; here it is the part you can actually see into.
Because the doors slide, no floor space is lost in front of them. In a corner — where two walls already limit how you move around the room — that matters more than it would along a single wall.
Tempered Colour Glass and Mirror
This is the most premium version of the Lema corner, and the reason is material rather than colour. The two outer doors are genuine tempered colour glass — not a printed panel or a gloss coating — set alongside two mirrored inner doors.
Glass and mirror is a natural pairing, and on a corner wardrobe it is particularly effective. Both are glass, so both share the same depth, the same evenness and the same way of handling light. Rather than two materials meeting at the corner, the whole front reads as one continuous glazed surface folding round the angle. No other finish in the range achieves that.
The practical case is just as strong. A corner is the darkest part of any room; here the mirrors throw light back into it while the glass outer doors carry that light along both wings rather than absorbing it. In a tight corner the effect is a wardrobe that makes the room feel larger rather than smaller — and tempered glass holds that appearance permanently, with no scuffed edges and no shift in tone over years of daylight.
White Glass is the brightest and crispest, and with the mirrors the combination that does most for a small or north-facing room. Silk Grey Glass is the most adaptable — a mid tone shows the quality of a glass surface better than white does, since unevenness in a coated panel would read as patchiness. Champagne Glass is the warmest, gaining a luminosity on glass that a matt panel cannot give it. Basalt Glass, the finish paired with Metallic Grey, is a deep near-black and the most dramatic of the four; against mirror it is a genuinely striking contrast, the dark glass receding while the reflection leads.
Each door carries four horizontal panels, following the Rauch Quadra design, with fine lines running across both the glass and the mirrored doors.
Handles
Aluminium handles are the standard option — a clean brushed metal that works with all four glass colours. Carcase-colour handles, finished to match the wardrobe, are available at additional cost and give the more premium result: the handles disappear into the door, leaving an unbroken glazed front across both wings. On a wardrobe where the entire appeal is a continuous glass surface, that is the option worth taking.
Inside
The interior divides into four compartments: 65.6cm, 115.8cm, 110.4cm and 65.6cm.
The two 65.6cm sections at the outer ends are conventional hanging compartments, each with two storage shelves and a clothes rail — one at the end of each wing.
The two large corner sections are fitted with four corner shelves, shaped to use the angle itself rather than wasting it. This is the part most corner wardrobes get wrong: a square shelf in a corner leaves an unreachable triangle behind it. These are made for the shape.
The full standard specification is two clothes rails, four storage shelves, four corner shelves, four sliding door dampers, and an integrated levelling feature — useful on an older floor, since a corner unit sits across two walls and any slope shows up immediately in the door alignment. On glass and mirrored doors the dampers matter more than usual, since glazed doors are heavier than panel ones.
An interior drawer unit is available as an optional extra: three drawers in a 43 × 57 × 45cm unit, which can be fitted into either of the 65.6cm sections.
Measuring Up
The two wings are not the same length: one measures 187cm and the other 182cm, both at 54cm deep. When you order you choose which wall takes the longer wing, so measure both walls out from the corner before deciding.
Two heights are available — 210cm for a standard modern ceiling, or 229cm where you have the height and want the extra storage above.
The base plinth is always supplied in Silk Grey. On White or Champagne that band is visible at floor level; on Silk Grey it disappears entirely. It is a deliberate design decision by Rauch rather than an omission.
We would recommend adding the assembly service on this model. A corner wardrobe is considerably more involved to build than a straight one: two carcases have to meet squarely at the corner, the sliding tracks must align across both wings, and the levelling has to be set before the doors are hung. With four glazed doors to handle and hang, it is not a build we would suggest taking on yourself.
Extending the Wardrobe
