About the Aurelia in Champagne
Champagne is the quietest way to avoid a white bedroom. It is a pale, faintly golden neutral — warmer than grey, softer than white — and on a design this plain it does all the work that a mirror or a glass panel would do on a more decorative wardrobe. With nothing else on the front, the colour itself becomes the design.
That matters here more than on most ranges. Aurelia is deliberately understated: two sliding doors, each divided into three horizontal panels by fine recessed lines, with slim aluminium profiles down the door edges and no applied handles at all. A plain white version of that can read as a pale rectangle against a pale wall. Champagne has enough warmth to register as a deliberate decision while remaining neutral enough that nothing else in the room has to change to accommodate it.
The tone shifts gently through the day, cooler in morning light and noticeably warmer under lamps in the evening, which gives a plain front a subtlety it would not otherwise have. It sits naturally with oak or walnut flooring, with brass and antique gold fittings, and with the cream, taupe and stone shades most bedrooms already carry.
The aluminium edges are the only cool note on the wardrobe — two slim metallic lines against a warm pale finish, and what keeps it looking contemporary rather than traditional. Because there are no handles, nothing projects from the front at all.
Sliding doors are the practical half of the design. Nothing swings into the room, so the wardrobe can sit opposite a bed, beside a doorway or in a narrow room without losing usable floor — and at the wider sizes, where a hinged wardrobe would need the better part of a metre of clear space in front of it, that becomes the deciding factor.
Three Widths
All three sizes have two sliding doors; what changes is the width and how the interior is divided behind them.
175cm gives two compartments of 87.5cm — the right proportion for a standard double bedroom, and the most compact of the three.
218cm opens the two compartments out to 109cm each. That is unusually generous: wide enough for a full season's coats or a long run of dresses in one section, without the rail being divided.
261cm divides into three compartments of 87.5cm behind the two doors. For two people sharing this is the one to have — a compartment each with a third for bedding, luggage or out-of-season clothing, and none of the three a compromise.
Every compartment, at every width, has a height-adjustable shelf and a hanging rail, so the balance between hanging and folded storage is yours to set rather than the factory's.
At 210cm high and 59cm deep, Aurelia fits a standard modern bedroom without needing a specialist ceiling height, and the depth means garments hang square on the rail rather than pressing against the sliding doors.
German Build at a Sensible Price
Aurelia sits in the Rauch Blue range – Rauch's value line, where the brief is reliable quality and good value rather than premium specification. What it is not is a budget wardrobe dressed up: it is 100% Made in Germany and carries both the Blue Angel and the Golden M.
Blue Angel is an independently verified low-emission certification, which is worth having on a large piece of furniture in a room you sleep in. The Golden M is Germany's independent furniture quality mark. Both are external certifications rather than the manufacturer's own claims, and most wardrobes at this price carry neither.
Other Options
If you would like a mirror, the same wardrobe is produced as a champagne sliding wardrobe with a full-height mirror panel set into one door.
Aurelia is also made in White, the brightest of the range, Metallic Grey, a deep graphite considerably closer to black than the name suggests, and Artisan Oak, a mid-toned wood effect with pronounced grain.
Matching bedside tables and chests of drawers are available from the same collection.
Delivery and Assembly

FAQs
What colour is Champagne?
A pale, faintly golden neutral – warmer than grey and softer than white. It shifts gently with the light through the day, appearing cooler in the morning and warmer under lamplight.
How does it compare with the white version?
White is brighter and does slightly more for a dark room. Champagne has enough warmth to register as a deliberate choice rather than a default, which on a front this plain is where the character comes from.
Are there handles?
No applied handles. Slim aluminium profiles run the full height of each door edge, and these act as the grip when sliding the doors – two cool metallic lines against the warm pale finish, with nothing projecting from the front.
What does the front look like?
Two sliding doors, each divided into three horizontal panels by fine recessed lines. Deliberately plain – the only detail is those shadow lines and the aluminium edges.
How many doors does it have?
Two sliding doors at every width. The wider sizes give more internal compartments behind those two doors rather than additional doors.
Which width should I choose?
175cm gives two compartments of 87.5cm — the most compact option. 218cm widens them to 109cm each, which suits long uninterrupted hanging. 261cm divides into three compartments of 87.5cm, which is the better arrangement for two people sharing.
What is inside the wardrobe?
Every compartment has one height-adjustable shelf and one hanging rail. Because the shelf adjusts, you can raise it for full-length coats and dresses or lower it to add folded storage.
Is there a version with a mirror?
Yes. The same wardrobe is produced with a full-height mirror panel set into one of the two doors.
What is the Rauch Blue range?
Rauch's value line – functional, well-designed furniture made in Germany, combining reliable quality with good value. It carries the same Blue Angel and Golden M certifications as the rest of the brand.
How deep is it?
59cm, which allows garments to hang square on the rail without pressing against the sliding doors.
Why choose sliding doors?
Nothing swings out into the room, so no floor space is lost in front of the wardrobe. At the wider sizes a hinged wardrobe would need close to a metre of clear floor before a door could open.
Is it available in other colours?
Yes. Aurelia is also made in White, Metallic Grey and Artisan Oak.
What delivery options are available?
Free delivery is included. Our professional assembly service is available at additional cost, where our fitters build the wardrobe in your chosen room and remove the packaging.
How long will it take to arrive?
Dispatch is 4 to 6 weeks — quicker than most German wardrobes. This is a dispatch timeframe rather than a delivery date, as the wardrobe is built to your specification in Germany and then shipped to the UK.
Can I cancel or change my order?
No. This wardrobe is made to order by Rauch to your selected specification, so once the order has been processed it cannot be cancelled or amended. Please check your measurements and selected width carefully before ordering.
How do I look after the surfaces?
The surfaces are easy to maintain and should be cleaned with a dry cloth only.
