About the Black Finish
Black is the boldest choice in the Contido range and the one that changes a room most completely. It looks its best against white or off-white walls, pale flooring and a restrained palette – monochrome, industrial or contemporary schemes rather than busy ones. What it will not do is blend quietly into the background; if you want the wardrobe to disappear, one of the lighter colourways will serve you better.
Where black earns its place on this particular design is the panel structure. On a pale finish the horizontal divisions between the three door panels are subtle shadow lines. On black they become the only thing catching light on the entire front – fine bright edges running across a dark plane, which gives the wardrobe a sharpness and definition the lighter colours simply do not have. It is the finish that makes the design most visible.
The handle choice matters more here than on any other colourway. Chrome gives the strongest contrast – a bright vertical line against dark, and the pairing most people picture when they imagine a black wardrobe. Aluminium is softer and more brushed, quieter against the dark front while still reading as metal. Black is the most restrained of the three, matching the doors so the handle almost disappears and the wardrobe becomes a single uninterrupted dark form.
