About the Velora 2 Door 4 Drawer Chest
This is the most versatile piece in the collection, because it does two jobs a plain chest of drawers cannot. The four central drawers handle folded clothes in the usual way, but either side sits a full-height cupboard with two adjustable shelves – and a shelf takes things a drawer never will. Handbags, shoe boxes, folded bedding, stacked jumpers that would crush in a drawer, or simply the awkward items every bedroom accumulates and has nowhere to put.
The shelves adjust in height rather than being fixed, so each cupboard can be set for what you actually need to store – three tall spaces or two shorter ones, different on each side if you like. They are 16mm thick, rated to 10kg each and supplied with angle supports, so they carry weight properly rather than bowing under it.
The proportions are what make it work as a bedroom piece. At 120cm wide and 81cm high it reads as a sideboard rather than a chest, with a usable surface across the top for a lamp, a mirror or framed photographs – and at 42cm deep it does not project into the room the way a true sideboard would. In a bedroom without space for both a chest of drawers and a blanket box, this replaces both.
It also works beyond the bedroom. The same piece sits comfortably in a hallway, a landing or a living room, where the cupboards take the things that would otherwise be on show and the drawers handle everything smaller.
The handles are the range signature: slim black bars with rounded ends, running horizontally across the doors and drawers alike. What is behind the two doors?
