About the Metallic Grey Finish with Centre Mirrors
This is the configuration that makes a dark wardrobe workable in an ordinary bedroom. Metallic Grey is a deep graphite – considerably closer to black than to silver, and in most rooms it reads as a near-black – and across a full front that darkness absorbs a great deal of light. Two full-height mirrors at the centre give most of it back, so the graphite appears in two framing sections either side rather than as one continuous dark plane.
The contrast between the two surfaces is the point. A bright reflective panel set between two near-black doors is a high-contrast composition, and considerably more striking than either would be alone. Where the white version of this wardrobe is soft and luminous, this one is graphic and deliberate – the version to choose if you want the wardrobe to be a feature of the room rather than a background one.
The mirrors also earn their place practically. Half the width of the wardrobe is reflective, which visually doubles the depth of the room and removes the need for a freestanding mirror taking up floor space. Positioned centrally, it is also exactly where you would naturally stand to use it.
The long chrome handles pull the whole thing together. Four bright vertical lines running the full height of the front tie the mirrored pair to the graphite doors either side, so the wardrobe reads as one designed piece rather than two materials meeting in the middle. Against a near-black surface the chrome catches every light source in the room.
The two outer doors are yours to specify, and on a dark colour the three options give three genuinely different results.
Metallic grey décor is the quietest. A soft, non-reflective panel finish matching the carcase, it frames the mirrors without competing with them – the sharpest contrast of the three, flat darkness against bright reflection. It is also the most forgiving practically, since matt surfaces do not show fingerprints in raking light the way reflective dark ones do.
High gloss graphite is the dramatic one. A reflective lacquered surface either side of a mirrored centre makes the entire front glossy, close to a piano finish, catching light across its whole width. It is the most theatrical option in the range, though it needs regular attention to look its best.
Basalt glass is the premium option, and the one this collection is named for. Genuine tempered glass alongside genuine mirror is a natural pairing – both are glass, both share the same depth and evenness, so the front reads as one continuous glazed surface rather than a mirror bolted to a cabinet. On a dark colour it also gives the most depth of the three, with light travelling across the surface rather than stopping at it.
Behind the doors the layout is straightforward and uncluttered. Two compartments of 90cm, each with a storage shelf and a hanging rail, both height-adjustable so the interior can be set for what you actually own. Raise the shelf for full-length coats and dresses, or lower it to add folded storage.
At 181cm wide, 210cm high and 54cm deep, this suits a standard double bedroom without demanding a specialist ceiling height. Manufactured 100% in Germany and certified with the Blue Angel and Golden M ecolabels, it meets independently verified standards for low emissions and furniture quality – worth having on a large piece of furniture in a room you sleep in. It carries a 10-year manufacturer guarantee.
If you would prefer the wardrobe without mirrors, the same model is produced as a 4 door wardrobe with your chosen finish across all four doors. For a longer wall, the mirrored version is also made as a 5 door wardrobe at 226cm, with three mirrored centre doors, and a large 6 door wardrobe at 271cm.
The collection is also produced in White with the same mirrored centre doors, where the three outer fronts are matt décor, high gloss white and white crystal glass. Matching bedside tables and chests of drawers are available from the same collection.

FAQs
Which doors are mirrored?
The two centre doors, with your chosen finish on the two outer doors. Both mirrors are full height, so half the width of the wardrobe is reflective, framed evenly by graphite at each end.
Is this wardrobe grey or black?
Despite the name, Metallic Grey is a deep graphite rather than a mid grey – considerably closer to black, and in most rooms it reads as a near-black. If you are looking for a dark or black mirrored wardrobe, this is the colourway.
What are the three front finishes?
The outer doors are available in metallic grey décor, a soft non-reflective panel finish matching the carcase; high gloss graphite, a reflective lacquered surface close to a piano finish; or basalt glass, genuine tempered glass with the most depth of the three. The mirrored centre doors, carcase, interior and dimensions are identical on all three.
Which finish works best with the mirrors?
Basalt glass pairs most naturally, since both surfaces are glass and read as one continuous glazed front. Matt décor gives the sharpest contrast – flat darkness against bright reflection – and is the most forgiving of fingerprints. High gloss makes the entire front reflective, which is the most dramatic but needs the most upkeep.
Is the basalt glass real glass?
Yes. The basalt fronts are genuine tempered glass, not a printed or lacquered panel. On a dark colour the difference is particularly noticeable – glass gives a depth and movement across the surface that a coated panel cannot reproduce.
Is a dark wardrobe too much for a small bedroom?
The mirrored version is considerably more forgiving than the plain one. With half the front reflective, the graphite appears only in the two outer sections and the mirrors return light the dark doors would otherwise absorb. It still works best against white or off-white walls and pale flooring; in a genuinely dark or north-facing room, the white version will serve the space better.
Is there a version without mirrors?
Yes. The same wardrobe is produced as a 4 door wardrobe with your chosen finish across all four doors.
What delivery options are available?
Free delivery is to your door – our drivers will not take the wardrobe into the house. Room of choice delivery is available at additional cost, where the wardrobe is brought to the room you specify. Full assembly is also available at additional cost, where our professional wardrobe fitters build the unit in your chosen room.
How much space do I need to install it?
Allow 25cm of clearance for installation. It is worth measuring the intended space before ordering, including skirting boards, radiators and any point where the wall is not perfectly square.
What is inside the wardrobe?
Two compartments of 90cm, each with one storage shelf and one hanging rail. Both are height-adjustable, so the layout can be set for full-length garments or for more folded storage.
Is it available in other sizes?
Yes. The mirrored Glamour is produced as a 5 door wardrobe at 226cm, with three mirrored centre doors, and a large 6 door wardrobe at 271cm.
Is it available in other colours?
Yes. The collection is also produced in White, with a choice of matt décor, high gloss white or white crystal glass outer doors.
Can I cancel or change my order?
No. This wardrobe is made to order by Rauch to your selected specification, so once the order has been processed it cannot be cancelled or amended. Please check your measurements and selected finish carefully before ordering.
What guarantee does it come with?
Rauch provide a 10-Year Manufacturer Guarantee, subject to their warranty terms.
Is there matching bedroom furniture?
Yes. Coordinating bedside tables and chests of drawers are available from the same collection.
How do I look after the surfaces?
The surfaces are easy to maintain and should be cleaned with a dry cloth only.
