About the Metallic Grey Finish with Centre Mirrors
This is the largest and boldest wardrobe in the Glamour range. Nearly three metres of deep graphite, split at the midpoint by two full-height mirrors and framed by two doors at each side – a symmetrical, high-contrast composition that dominates a bedroom by design rather than by accident. It is not a wardrobe for a room that wants furniture to disappear.
Metallic Grey is considerably closer to black than to silver, and in most rooms it reads as a near-black rather than a grey at all. At 271cm that darkness is a decision the whole room has to accommodate: it works against white or off-white walls, pale flooring and a restrained palette, where the effect is genuinely architectural. In a small or north-facing bedroom it will be too much, and the white version will serve the space far better.
The two mirrored centre doors are what keep it from becoming oppressive. Both are full height, forming a substantial reflective panel at the centre of the front that returns light the graphite absorbs and gives the eye somewhere bright to settle between two dark blocks. Practically it also removes the need for a freestanding mirror – worth reclaiming on a wardrobe already occupying most of one wall – and places the mirror centrally, where you would naturally stand to use it.
The long chrome handles are doing structural work at this scale. Six bright vertical lines running the full height of the wardrobe divide 271cm of graphite and mirror into regular, readable sections and connect the two materials into one designed object. Against a near-black surface the chrome catches every light source in the room. Without them, a front this large would read as a slab.
The four remaining doors are yours to specify, and on a dark colour at this scale the three options give three genuinely different pieces of furniture.
Metallic grey décor is the quietest. A soft, non-reflective panel finish matching the carcase, it frames the mirrored centre without competing with it – the sharpest contrast of the three, flat darkness against bright reflection. On a wardrobe this size it is also the most forgiving practically, since matt surfaces do not show fingerprints in raking light the way reflective dark ones do.
High gloss graphite is the dramatic one. Four reflective lacquered doors either side of a mirrored centre make the entire 271cm front glossy, close to a piano finish. It is the most theatrical piece in the entire Glamour range, though it needs regular attention to look its best.
Basalt glass is the premium option, and the one this collection is named for. Genuine tempered glass alongside genuine mirror is a natural pairing – both are glass, both share the same depth and evenness, so the whole front reads as one continuous glazed surface. On a dark colour it also gives the most depth of the three, with light travelling across the surface rather than stopping at it – which over a front this wide is what keeps the darkness alive rather than flat.
Internally the wardrobe divides into three equal 90cm compartments, each with a storage shelf and a hanging rail, all height-adjustable so the interior adapts to what you actually own rather than what the factory assumed. Three separate hanging sections is a more usable arrangement than one long run: two people sharing can take a compartment each, with the third given over to bedding, luggage or out-of-season clothing.
At 210cm high and 54cm deep, this fits a standard modern bedroom without needing a specialist ceiling height, and the footprint is no greater than a smaller wardrobe – only the run of wall changes. Manufactured 100% in Germany and certified with the Blue Angel and Golden M ecolabels, it meets independently verified standards for low emissions and furniture quality, which is worth having on a piece of furniture this size in a room you sleep in. It carries a 10-year manufacturer guarantee.
If you would prefer the wardrobe without mirrors, the same model is produced as a 6 door wardrobe with your chosen finish across all six doors. The mirrored version is also made as a 4 door wardrobe at 181cm and a 5 door wardrobe at 226cm, the latter with three mirrored centre doors.
The collection is also produced in White with the same mirrored centre doors, where the three fronts are matt décor, high gloss white and white crystal glass. Matching bedside tables and chests of drawers are available from the same collection.
Internal Storage Layout
-
Three compartments: Each 90cm wide across the 271cm width
-

-
Right compartment (90cm): Identical fittings – 1 storage shelf and 1 hanging rail
-
Total hanging space: Three separate rails rather than one continuous run, allowing the wardrobe to be divided between users, seasons or garment types
-
Adjustability: All shelves and rails are height-adjustable, so one section can be set for full-length garments while another is given over to folded storage
-
Additional fittings: Further interior accessories are available from the Rauch range

FAQs
Which doors are mirrored?
The two centre doors, with your chosen finish on the four remaining doors – two at each side. Both mirrors are full height, giving a substantial reflective panel at the midpoint of the wardrobe with the front framed symmetrically either side.
Is this wardrobe grey or black?
Despite the name, Metallic Grey is a deep graphite rather than a mid grey – considerably closer to black, and in most rooms it reads as a near-black. If you are looking for a large dark or black mirrored wardrobe, this is the colourway.
What are the three front finishes?
Metallic grey décor is a soft, non-reflective panel finish matching the carcase. High gloss graphite is a reflective lacquered surface, close to a piano finish. Basalt glass is genuine tempered glass, giving the deepest, most lacquered result of the three. The mirrored centre doors, carcase, interior and dimensions are identical on all three.
Which finish works best with the mirrors?
Basalt glass pairs most naturally, since both surfaces are glass and read as one continuous glazed front – and across a wardrobe this wide, that consistency is the most noticeable. Matt décor gives the sharpest contrast and is the most forgiving of fingerprints. High gloss makes the entire front reflective, which is the most dramatic but needs the most upkeep.
Is a wardrobe this large and this dark right for my room?
It needs both a substantial run of clear wall and a room with light to spare. The mirrored centre helps considerably, returning light the graphite absorbs, but at 271cm this is a wardrobe that defines a bedroom rather than sitting in it. In a small or north-facing room, the white version will serve the space better. At 54cm deep, the footprint is no greater than a smaller wardrobe.
Is the basalt glass real glass?
Yes. The basalt fronts are genuine tempered glass, not a printed or lacquered panel. On a dark colour the difference is particularly noticeable – glass gives a depth and movement across the surface that a coated panel cannot reproduce.
Is there a version without mirrors?
Yes. The same wardrobe is produced as a 6 door wardrobe with your chosen finish across all six doors.
How is the wardrobe divided inside?
Into three equal 90cm compartments, each with one storage shelf and one hanging rail, all height-adjustable. Three separate hanging sections rather than one long run, so the wardrobe can be divided between users or garment types.
What delivery options are available?
Free delivery is to your door – our drivers will not take the wardrobe into the house. Room of choice delivery is available at additional cost, where the wardrobe is brought to the room you specify. Full assembly is also available at additional cost, where our professional wardrobe fitters build the unit in your chosen room. On a wardrobe of this size the assembly service is worth considering.
How much space do I need to install it?
Allow 25cm of clearance for installation. On a wardrobe of this width it is worth measuring the full run of wall before ordering, including skirting boards, radiators and any point where the wall is not perfectly square.
Is it available in other sizes?
Yes. The mirrored Glamour is produced as a 4 door wardrobe at 181cm and a 5 door wardrobe at 226cm, the latter with three mirrored centre doors.
Is it available in other colours?
Yes. The collection is also produced in White, with a choice of matt décor, high gloss white or white crystal glass fronts.
Can I cancel or change my order?
No. This wardrobe is made to order by Rauch to your selected specification, so once the order has been processed it cannot be cancelled or amended. Please check your measurements and selected finish carefully before ordering.
What guarantee does it come with?
Rauch provide a 10-Year Manufacturer Guarantee, subject to their warranty terms.
Is there matching bedroom furniture?
Yes. Coordinating bedside tables and chests of drawers are available from the same collection.
How do I look after the surfaces?
The surfaces are easy to maintain and should be cleaned with a dry cloth only.
