About the Champagne Glass Front and Carcase Options
This is the most adaptable wardrobe in the Forms range. The doors are fixed – champagne tempered glass either side of a full-height mirrored centre – but the carcase is yours to choose from four finishes, and that single decision changes the character of the wardrobe more than you might expect. The frame is what the glass sits within and what you see at every edge, so it sets the tone the doors then work against.
Champagne itself is a pale, faintly golden neutral – warmer than grey, softer than white. In tempered glass rather than a flat panel it gains real luminosity, holding the light instead of flattening it, and the tone shifts gently through the day: cooler in morning light, noticeably warmer under lamps in the evening. It is a colour that reads as expensive rather than merely pale, and it works with a mirror particularly well, since the two surfaces complement rather than compete.
The four carcase options take the wardrobe in genuinely different directions.
Artisan Oak is the warmest choice and the most textural. Wood-effect grain framing pale glass gives a natural, considered result that suits bedrooms built around linen, wool, rattan and unpainted wood. It is the option that reads least like manufactured furniture and most like something chosen for the room.
White is the crispest. A clean white frame around champagne glass keeps everything light and contemporary, and it is the brightest of the four – the choice for a small bedroom, a north-facing room, or anywhere the priority is keeping the space feeling open.
Silk Grey is the softest and most tonal. The grey and the champagne are close enough in weight that the wardrobe reads as one gentle, cohesive piece rather than a two-tone design. It also has a practical advantage the others do not: because the base plinth on every Forms wardrobe is Silk Grey, this is the only combination where the plinth matches the carcase exactly and disappears from view.
Metallic Grey is the boldest. A deep, near-black frame against pale champagne glass is a high-contrast pairing, and on a wardrobe close to three metres wide it makes a real statement. It suits rooms with light to spare and a restrained palette, where the contrast reads as deliberate and architectural.
Whichever frame you choose, the mirrored centre door does the same work. It removes the need for a separate freestanding mirror – worth reclaiming on a wardrobe that fills most of one wall – places the mirror centrally where you would naturally stand to use it, and breaks the three-door run into balanced sections rather than one continuous front.
One detail to know before ordering: the base plinth is supplied in Silk Grey on every Forms wardrobe. On the Silk Grey carcase it matches exactly; on the Artisan Oak, White and Metallic Grey options it will be visible as a grey band at the base. It is a deliberate design decision by Rauch, grounding the unit at floor level, and it is more noticeable on the darker carcase than on the lighter ones. Better known now than noticed on delivery.
Each door front is made up of four panel elements rather than one continuous sheet. Visually this gives the wardrobe a subtle horizontal rhythm that keeps a wide front from looking flat. Practically, panel construction is a considerable advantage on delivery day: a 229cm door in a single piece is extremely awkward to carry up a staircase or round a landing, whereas panels are manageable. If the bedroom is upstairs, or access involves a turn, this matters more than it sounds.
Doors run on the Rauch Easy-Slide system, engineered for a smooth and quiet action. Sliding doors are the practical choice wherever floor space is limited: nothing swings out into the room, so the wardrobe can sit opposite a bed, beside a doorway or in a narrow room without losing usable floor. At 271cm wide that becomes the deciding factor for many bedrooms – a hinged wardrobe of the same width would need close to a metre of clear floor before a door could open.
The interior differs between the two heights, and it is worth weighing carefully. The 210cm model gives one storage shelf and one hanging rail per compartment. The 229cm model gives two shelves and one rail per compartment – across three compartments that is a substantial increase in folded storage rather than a marginal one. If your ceiling height allows for the taller model, it is the better use of the same footprint.
Widths of 203cm and 271cm cover most bedroom walls, dividing internally into three equal compartments of 67.5cm or 90cm respectively. At 62cm deep the wardrobe holds standard hangers comfortably while keeping its footprint modest. Surfaces need nothing more than a dry wipe.
