About the Champagne Glass Front with Centre Mirror

Champagne and mirror is the warmest bright combination in the Forms range, and for a lot of bedrooms it is the more comfortable alternative to white. A white glass front with a mirror is undeniably the brightest option available, but it can read as cool and slightly clinical across three doors. Champagne gives you almost the same lift in light with none of that hardness – a pale, faintly golden tone alongside a full-height mirror, warm rather than stark.

Glass is what makes the colour work. In a flat panel finish champagne can look slightly washed out; in tempered glass it gains luminosity and depth, holding the light rather than flattening it. The tone shifts gently through the day – cooler in morning light, noticeably warmer under lamps in the evening – and that movement is a large part of why the finish looks expensive rather than merely pale.

Set beside a mirror, that warmth is what stops the front feeling like two reflective surfaces competing. The mirror is a clean, direct reflection; the champagne glass is a soft, diffused sheen with colour behind it. The two read as complementary rather than as one bright plane, which is the difficulty a white-and-mirror combination sometimes has across a wardrobe this wide.

The mirror also does straightforward practical work. It removes the need for a separate freestanding mirror – worth reclaiming on a wardrobe that fills most of one wall – and places the mirror centrally in the room where you would naturally stand to use it. Across three doors it breaks the run into balanced sections rather than presenting a single continuous front.

Champagne is forgiving to build a room around. It sits naturally with brass and antique gold fittings, with cream, taupe and stone bedding, and with linen and other natural materials. Against oak or walnut flooring it looks entirely at home, and against white walls it warms a scheme that might otherwise feel cold. It also does not fight a cooler palette, so if you are furnishing gradually it leaves your options open.

There is a variation worth comparing before you decide. The same champagne glass fronts and mirrored centre door are also offered with an Artisan Oak carcase rather than a champagne one. That version keeps the pale, luminous glass but frames it in wood-effect grain, which gives a warmer and more textural result. If your room leans towards natural materials it is well worth a look; if you want the wardrobe to read as a single soft tone, the version here is the one.

One detail to know before ordering: the base plinth is supplied in Silk Grey on every Forms wardrobe, including this one. Beneath a warm champagne front that grey band is visible – a deliberate design decision by Rauch, grounding the unit at floor level. It is better known now than noticed on delivery.

Each door front is made up of four panel elements rather than one continuous sheet. Visually this gives the wardrobe a subtle horizontal rhythm that keeps a wide front from looking flat. Practically, panel construction is a considerable advantage on delivery day: a 229cm door in a single piece is extremely awkward to carry up a staircase or round a landing, whereas panels are manageable.

The bar handles are colour-matched to the wardrobe, so they read as part of the door rather than an applied fitting. On a soft, warm tone that keeps the front clean and uninterrupted – a quieter approach than a chrome or black handle, and better suited to the colour.

Doors run on the Rauch Easy-Slide system, engineered for a smooth and quiet action. Sliding doors are the practical choice wherever floor space is limited: nothing swings out into the room, so the wardrobe can sit opposite a bed, beside a doorway or in a narrow room without losing usable floor. At 271cm wide that becomes the deciding factor for many bedrooms – a hinged wardrobe of the same width would need close to a metre of clear floor before a door could open.

The interior differs between the two heights, and it is worth weighing carefully. The 210cm model gives one storage shelf and one hanging rail per compartment. The 229cm model gives two shelves and one rail per compartment – across three compartments that is a substantial increase in folded storage rather than a marginal one. If your ceiling height allows for the taller model, it is the better use of the same footprint.

Widths of 203cm and 271cm cover most bedroom walls, dividing internally into three equal compartments of 67.5cm or 90cm respectively. At 62cm deep the wardrobe holds standard hangers comfortably while keeping its footprint modest. Surfaces need nothing more than a dry wipe, and a mid-warm neutral like champagne is among the easier finishes to live with – dust shows far less than
