About the Champagne Glass Front

Champagne is the warm option in the Forms range, and glass is what makes it work. This is a pale, faintly golden neutral – warmer than grey, softer than white – and in a flat panel finish it can look slightly washed out. Rendered in tempered glass, it gains depth and luminosity: the surface holds the light rather than flattening it, and the tone shifts gently through the day, cooler in morning light and noticeably warmer under lamps in the evening.

That quality is why champagne suits bedrooms so well. It gives you the light-reflecting benefit of a pale wardrobe without the clinical edge that white sometimes brings, particularly across three doors. In a room with white walls it stops the scheme feeling cold; against oak or walnut flooring it reads as quietly expensive.

It is also one of the more forgiving colours to build a room around. Champagne sits naturally with brass and antique gold fittings, with cream, taupe and stone bedding, and with linen and other natural materials – but it does not fight a cooler scheme either. If you are furnishing gradually rather than all at once, that latitude is worth having.

There is a second version of this wardrobe worth knowing about before you decide. The same champagne glass fronts are also offered with an oak carcase and a mirrored centre door, which takes the wardrobe in a distinctly different direction – the wood grain of the frame against the pale glass gives a warmer, more textural result than the tonal version here. If your room leans towards natural materials, it is worth comparing the two before you order.

One detail to know in advance: the base plinth is supplied in Silk Grey on every Forms wardrobe, including this one. Beneath a warm champagne front that grey band is visible – a deliberate design decision by Rauch, grounding the unit at floor level. It is better known now than noticed on delivery.

Each door front is made up of four panel elements rather than one continuous sheet. Visually this gives the wardrobe a subtle horizontal rhythm that keeps a wide front from looking flat. Practically, panel construction is a considerable advantage on delivery day: a 229cm door in a single piece is extremely awkward to carry up a staircase or round a landing, whereas panels are manageable. If the bedroom is upstairs, or access involves a turn, this matters more than it sounds.

The bar handles are colour-matched to the wardrobe, so they read as part of the door rather than an applied fitting. On a soft, warm tone that keeps the front clean and uninterrupted – a quieter approach than a chrome or black handle, and better suited to the colour.

Doors run on the Rauch Easy-Slide system, engineered for a smooth and quiet action. Sliding doors are the practical choice wherever floor space is limited: nothing swings out into the room, so the wardrobe can sit opposite a bed, beside a doorway or in a narrow room without losing usable floor. At 271cm wide that becomes the deciding factor for many bedrooms – a hinged wardrobe of the same width would need close to a metre of clear floor before a door could open.

The interior differs between the two heights, and it is worth weighing carefully. The 210cm model gives one storage shelf and one hanging rail per compartment. The 229cm model gives two shelves and one rail per compartment – across three compartments that is a substantial increase in folded storage rather than a marginal one. If your ceiling height allows for the taller model, it is the better use of the same footprint.

Widths of 203cm and 271cm cover most bedroom walls, dividing internally into three equal compartments of 67.5cm or 90cm respectively. At 62cm deep the wardrobe holds standard hangers comfortably while keeping its footprint modest. Surfaces need nothing more than a dry wipe, and a mid-warm neutral like champagne is among the easier finishes to live with – dust shows far less than on a dark colour, and everyday marks less than on a bright white.

Forms belongs to the Rauch Orange range and is built to the same German factory standard as the rest of the brand – 100% Made in Germany, carrying both the Blue Angel and the Golden M seals. Blue Angel is an independently verified low-emission certification, meaningful for a large piece of furniture in a room you sleep in, and the Golden M is Germany's recognised furniture quality mark. Matching bedside tables and chests of drawers are available from the same collection.

Internal Storage Layout

  • Three equal compartments: Each measuring 67.5cm wide on the 203cm model, or 90cm wide on the 271cm model
  • 210cm height: Every compartment is fitted with 1 storage shelf and 1 full-width hanging rail
  • 229cm height: Every compartment is fitted with 2 storage shelves and 1 full-width hanging rail, giving noticeably more folded storage across the wardrobe
  • Left compartment: Shelving in the upper section with a full-width hanging rail beneath for coats, dresses, shirts and suits
  • Centre compartment: Identical arrangement to the left compartment
  • Right compartment: Identical arrangement, giving three separate hanging sections rather than one continuous run
  • Adjustability: Shelves and hanging rails can be positioned to suit your own storage, so one section can be set for full-length garments while another is given over to folded items
  • Depth: 62cm external depth throughout, accommodating standard hangers across all three compartments

Made To Order

This item is categorised as 'Made To Order.' Kindly be aware that this item is crafted according to your specifications by Rauch, including your selected options. Once the order is processed, cancellations or modifications cannot be accommodated. We cannot accept responsibility for additional costs resulting from incorrect information supplied when the order was placed.

FAQs

How long will it take to arrive?
Dispatch is 4 to 6 weeks. This is a dispatch timeframe rather than a delivery date: the wardrobe is built to your specification in Germany and then shipped to the UK. Occasionally items arrive sooner, and during German factory holiday closures it can take slightly longer.

Can I cancel or change my order?
No. This wardrobe is made to order in your chosen size and configuration, so once the order has been processed with Rauch it cannot be cancelled or amended. Please check your measurements and selected options carefully before ordering.

What delivery service is included?
Free delivery is included with this wardrobe. Full details of the delivery and assembly options available, along with the clearance you will need, are set out in our Assembly Service information.

What colour is Champagne?
A pale, faintly golden neutral – warmer than grey and softer than white. It shifts gently with the light through the day, appearing cooler in the morning and warmer under lamplight. In tempered glass it has noticeably more depth than the same colour would have in a flat panel finish.

Are the doors real glass?
Yes. The fronts are genuine champagne tempered glass, not a printed or foiled panel finish. Glass gives the colour a luminous depth and holds that appearance over time rather than scuffing at the edges.

Is there a version with an oak carcase?
Yes. The champagne glass wardrobe with an oak carcase and mirrored centre door pairs the same glass fronts with a wood-effect frame, giving a warmer and more textural result than the tonal version here.

Is a mirrored version available?
Yes. The Forms 3 door is also produced with a mirrored centre door in champagne glass, if you want a full-height mirror built into the wardrobe rather than standing separately in the room.

What colour is the base plinth?
Silk Grey, as on every Forms wardrobe. Beneath the warm champagne fronts this appears as a grey band at the base of the unit. It is a design feature of the range rather than a fault or a variation.

Which height should I choose?
The 229cm model gives two storage shelves per compartment against one on the 210cm model – across three compartments that is a substantial difference in folded storage. If your ceiling height allows for the taller version, it is the better use of the same footprint.

How wide is each internal compartment?
The interior divides into three equal sections. On the 203cm model each compartment is 67.5cm wide; on the 271cm model each is 90cm. Every compartment has its own shelving and hanging rail.

Will it fit up my stairs and into the room?
Each door front is made up of four panel elements rather than a single full-height sheet, which makes the components considerably easier to carry through doorways, up staircases and around landings than a wardrobe of this size would normally be. It is still worth checking your access allows for the carcase panels, particularly on the 229cm height.

What guarantee does it come with?
Rauch provide a 10-Year Manufacturer Guarantee, subject to their warranty terms.

Is there matching bedroom furniture?
Yes. Coordinating bedside tables and chests of drawers are available from the same collection.

How do I look after the surfaces?
The surfaces are easy to maintain and should be cleaned with a dry cloth only.

How Professional Assembly Works

Step 1

Choose Your Wardrobe

Browse our wardrobe collections and choose the size, finish and configuration that works for your bedroom.

Step 2

Select Your Delivery Service

Where available, select Professional Delivery & Assembly from the delivery options shown directly on the product page.

Step 3

Prepare the Room

Make sure the room and access route are clear and that sufficient floor and ceiling space is available for safe assembly.

Step 4

We Take Care of the Rest

Our specialist team will deliver, assemble, position and check your wardrobe before completing the handover.

Preparing Your Room for Assembly

Large wardrobes normally need to be assembled flat before being carefully raised into their final position. Preparing the room before the delivery team arrives is therefore essential.

  • Ensure the room has sufficient clear floor space for the wardrobe to be assembled lying flat.
  • Allow approximately 20cm of clearance around the wardrobe footprint where possible.
  • Allow approximately 15–20cm of ceiling clearance above the finished height of the wardrobe.
  • Ensure access routes, doorways, hallways and stairs are clear and suitable for the wardrobe components to be safely carried into the room.
  • Remove furniture and other items that may obstruct the assembly area.
  • Consider radiators, light fittings, low ceilings, sloping ceilings and other permanent obstructions that could prevent safe assembly.
  • Our wardrobes are freestanding and the assembly team may require access around the furniture during installation.
Important: If our assembly team arrives and the room or access route is not suitable for safe delivery and assembly, they may be unable to complete the service. The assembly charge may still apply where the service cannot be completed because sufficient access or assembly space has not been provided.

What Happens If Damage Occurs During Assembly?

When you choose our Professional Delivery & Assembly service, the installation is carried out by our specialist assembly team.

If accidental damage occurs to your wardrobe during assembly, the assemblers will report the damage to us so that we can arrange the appropriate replacement part.

We normally aim to order the replacement part within approximately 48 hours of receiving the relevant information from the assembly team.

Please be aware that many of our wardrobe parts are manufactured and supplied from Germany. Replacement components may therefore take a similar lead time to the original order before they arrive with us and can be arranged for fitting.

This is one of the key benefits of selecting professional assembly: if accidental damage occurs during installation by our team, we take responsibility for resolving the issue.

Assembly by the Customer

If your wardrobe is supplied as Delivery Only, it will normally arrive flat-packed with the components and assembly instructions required to build the furniture.

Wardrobe assembly clearance guide showing approximately 20cm working space around the wardrobe

Large wardrobes normally need to be assembled flat before being carefully raised into their final position. We strongly recommend checking all components before beginning assembly and making sure there is sufficient room to work safely around the wardrobe.

  • Check all packs before beginning assembly.
  • Confirm that all required components are present.
  • Check that no components appear damaged before assembly begins.
  • Use at least two people for safe assembly and lifting.
  • Allow approximately 20cm of working clearance around the wardrobe where possible.
  • Ensure there is enough clear floor space to assemble the wardrobe flat.
  • Check the available ceiling height before lifting the wardrobe upright.
Please note: Damage caused during customer self-assembly is not treated in the same way as accidental damage caused while our professional team is carrying out the assembly service.

Delivery Times for Professional Assembly

Orders with Professional Delivery & Assembly are delivered by a specialist assembly team. This can mean the delivery time is slightly longer than the standard delivery estimate shown for delivery-only orders.

Please allow approximately 6–8 weeks for orders requiring Professional Delivery & Assembly.

Assembly Within 40 Miles of BB9

If you are located within approximately 40 miles of our BB9 postcode, we may be able to provide an additional assembly service for selected wardrobes that would otherwise be supplied as Delivery Only.

Availability and pricing for this local service should be confirmed with our team before delivery.

Assembly Available at Cost

On eligible wardrobes, you can select Professional Delivery & Assembly directly from the product page. Assembly prices start from £79 and vary depending on the size of the wardrobe.
