About the White Décor Finish

This is the most straightforward wardrobe in the Forms range, and for a lot of bedrooms that is precisely the point. White matt décor is a soft, non-reflective panel finish – no sheen, no reflections, no shine to catch the light. It sits quietly against a wall and behaves like part of the room rather than a piece of furniture standing in it. If what you want is three doors of good German storage without the wardrobe announcing itself, this is the version to choose.

Matt white also has a practical advantage that glass does not. A non-reflective surface will not show smudges or fingerprints in raking light, and it does not throw reflections across the room at night. In a bedroom shared by a family, or one where the wardrobe sits directly opposite a window, that restraint is genuinely useful.

The alternative is worth understanding before you decide. The same wardrobe is offered with white tempered glass fronts, which gives a flatter, more uniform white with a subtle sheen that lifts the light in the room. Glass is the more premium finish and carries a higher price; décor is the calmer look and the better value. The carcase, interior, handles, mechanism and dimensions are identical on both, so the decision comes down entirely to how you want the doors to behave. In a small or north-facing room the glass will do more for the light; in most other situations décor is a perfectly good choice, and a good many customers prefer it.

Both are also produced with a mirrored centre door if you want a full-height mirror built into the wardrobe rather than standing separately – white décor with mirror or white glass with mirror.

One detail to know before ordering: the base plinth is supplied in Silk Grey on every Forms wardrobe, including this one. Beneath a white front that grey band is visible – a deliberate design decision by Rauch, grounding the unit at floor level rather than letting it appear to float. Visually this gives the wardrobe a subtle horizontal rhythm that stops a wide white front from reading as a blank wall – an effect that matters more on a matt finish than on glass, where the sheen provides its own interest. Practically, panel construction is a considerable advantage on delivery day: a 229cm door in a single piece is extremely awkward to carry up a staircase or round a landing, whereas panels are manageable.

What is the difference between the décor and glass versions?
Décor is a matt panel finish – soft, non-reflective, and the lower-priced of the two. Glass fronts are genuine white tempered glass with a smooth, slightly reflective surface that lifts the light in a room. The carcase, interior, handles, mechanism and dimensions are identical on both, so the choice is purely about the look of the doors.

Which should I choose for a small or dark bedroom?

Is a mirrored version available?

Dispatch is 8 to 10 weeks. This is a dispatch timeframe rather than a delivery date: the wardrobe is built to your specification in Germany and then shipped to the UK. Occasionally items arrive sooner, and during German factory holiday closures it can take slightly longer.

Can I cancel or change my order?

What colour is the base plinth?
Silk Grey, as on every Forms wardrobe. Beneath the white fronts this appears as a grey band at the base of the unit. It is a design feature of the range rather than a fault or a variation.

Does a matt white finish show marks?
Less than a gloss or glass surface. A non-reflective finish does not catch fingerprints in raking light the way a shiny one does, and dust is barely visible on white. The surfaces clean with a dry cloth.

Which height should I choose?
The 229cm model gives two storage shelves per compartment against one on the 210cm model – across three compartments that is a substantial difference in folded storage. If your ceiling height allows for the taller version, it is the better use of the same footprint.
