You can spread the cost of a new wardrobe over 6 or 12 months at 0% APR, paying a deposit of between 10% and 50% and starting repayments one month after delivery. There are no arrangement fees, and the total you pay matches the order value exactly.
Wardrobes are one of the larger single furniture purchases a household makes. A well built German wardrobe with the right interior layout lasts fifteen years or more, so paying for it across a few months rather than in one go often makes better sense than buying something cheaper that needs replacing sooner. Here is exactly how it works.
What interest free furniture finance actually means
0% APR means you repay the amount you borrowed and nothing more. If your order comes to £1,200 and you put down a £120 deposit, you repay the remaining £1,080 across the term. The total stays £1,200.
That is different from a credit card promotional rate, where the 0% period ends and a standard rate takes over. It is also different from most buy now pay later schemes, which split a payment over weeks rather than months.
We provide finance through Novuna Personal Finance, an established UK retail finance provider. Novuna assesses the application and holds the agreement, and we handle the order and delivery as normal.
The terms at a glance
Two options are available, and the order value decides which one you qualify for. Orders of £280 and above qualify for 6 months interest free. Orders of £835 and above qualify for 12 months interest free.
The minimum deposit is 10% of the order value and the maximum is 50%. A larger deposit lowers the monthly payment but does not change the total, since there is no interest to reduce. The minimum amount financed after the deposit is £250.
Repayments begin one month after your purchase has been delivered, not from the day you order. That matters on made to order wardrobes, where lead times commonly run to eight or ten weeks. You are not paying for something that has not arrived.
What the monthly payments look like
The maths is straightforward. Take the order value, subtract the deposit, then divide by the number of months.
On a £350 order over 6 months with a 10% deposit of £35, you pay £52.50 a month. On a £900 order over 12 months with a £90 deposit, you pay £67.50 a month. On a £1,200 order over 12 months with a £120 deposit, you pay £90 a month. On a £2,000 order with a £200 deposit, the figure is £150 a month.
These are illustrations rather than quotes. The finance calculator on our interest free finance page lets you enter your own order value and deposit to see the figures for your basket.
How to apply
Build your basket
Add the wardrobe and any extras to your basket as you normally would. The finance option appears at checkout once the basket meets the minimum order value.
Choose finance and set your deposit
Select the finance option at checkout and pick your deposit between 10% and 50%. The available term depends on the order value, so a larger basket unlocks the 12 month option.
Complete the application
The application takes a few minutes online and asks for standard details including address history, employment and income. Novuna runs a credit assessment and returns a decision, usually within minutes.
Sign the agreement
Once approved you can either e-sign the agreement on screen or print, sign and post it back. Read it carefully before signing, since it is a credit agreement. Your order is not allocated until the signed agreement reaches Novuna, so e-signing keeps things moving faster.
Who can apply
To apply for online finance you must be over 18, work at least 16 hours a week or be retired with an income, and be a UK resident who has lived here for the last 12 months or more. Finance is not available to residents of Eire.
Homemakers can apply in their own name, though the application will ask for the employment details of a spouse or partner. Goods can only be delivered to the home address of the applicant, which is a fraud prevention requirement rather than a delivery limitation.
Approval is never guaranteed. Novuna considers your credit score, information held at credit reference agencies and your existing commitments. If an application is declined, you can reapply later, though leaving at least six months between applications is sensible.
Finance compared with the other ways to pay
We accept all major debit and credit cards including American Express, plus PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Each suits a different situation.
Klarna works well for smaller orders you want to split across a short window. A credit card gives flexibility but usually charges interest once any promotional period ends. Paying outright is simplest of all, and it is the right choice if the money is sitting there and you have no better use for it.
Interest free finance makes most sense on a larger order where you want to keep cash available and repay across a fixed, predictable period. It is also the option that lets you buy the specification you actually want rather than the one that fits this month's budget.
Is spreading the cost the right move for you?
Be honest about affordability before you apply. A fixed monthly payment is only comfortable if it fits your budget in a quiet month as well as a good one. Missed payments affect your credit file, and 0% does not soften that.
Where finance genuinely helps is on specification. Buyers often drop a mirrored door, a drawer bank or a wider model to hit a cash figure, then regret the compromise within a year. Spread across twelve months, the gap between a good wardrobe and the right wardrobe is often a small monthly difference.
If you are still deciding what to buy before you decide how to pay, start with our ultimate wardrobe buying guide for UK homes, then browse the full wardrobe range or the current wardrobe sale for reduced models. Finance applies to sale items in the same way, provided the basket meets the minimum order value. Sliding models, which tend to sit at the higher end, are grouped in our sliding door wardrobes collection.
Frequently asked questions
Is the finance genuinely interest free?
Yes. It is 0% APR, so the total amount payable matches your order value provided you keep up with the agreed repayments. There are no arrangement fees or hidden charges.
When do my repayments start?
Repayments begin one month after your purchase has been delivered rather than from the order date. On made to order wardrobes with an eight to ten week lead time, that means your first payment falls roughly three months after you order.
Will applying affect my credit score?
Novuna carries out a credit assessment and any request for credit is recorded at the credit reference agencies. The result of the request is not recorded. Applying repeatedly in a short period is worth avoiding.
Can I pay the finance off early?
Yes, you can usually settle early. Contact Novuna Personal Finance directly using the details on your agreement to request a settlement figure. Since the agreement is interest free, early settlement simply clears the remaining balance.
Can I use finance on a sale item?
Yes. Finance applies to discounted products in the same way as full price ones, as long as the basket total reaches £280 for the 6 month term or £835 for the 12 month term.
